The Medium Tank Mark A, or Whippet as it was more commonly known, was what can be described as a second-generation Britis tank of World War I, being of completely different design to the "heavy" tanks built from 1916 onward. Some 200 Whippets were constructed by William Foster & Co., And after its introduction in March 1918, it was used until the end of the war and beyond.
